The
Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test (SDRT) is given annually to determine
student progress in reading and to assist in class placement. It is
group-administered and has three parts: a reading comprehension section
requiring 50 minutes, a vocabulary section requiring 20 minutes, and a
scanning section requiring 15 minutes. The 85-minute test may be given in
one sitting or each section may be given on different days or during
different periods of the same day. Each section of the test,
however, must be given in one sitting. The following students must be
tested on the SDRT during the designated testing windows.
Grade 4 1) All FEP students 2) English Learners (ELs) who will have been in the district three or more years as of the end of the school year 3) ELs who will have been in the district less than three years as of the end of the year, and who are at the Intermediate level of English proficiency or higher (i.e., Early Advanced, Advanced) based on their Spring 2000 LAS/SOLOM scores Grade 11 Pre-printed scan sheets identifying the students who fall into the above categories will be sent to schools approximately one week before the test is to be administered.Testing of Special Education and 504 Plan Students with Accommodations Special Education and 504 Plan students may be provided the same accommodations or adaptations for the SDRT as for any standardized, norm-referenced test. These accommodations or adaptations must be indicated in the student’s IEP or 504 Plan. Out-of-level testing is not an option for any district student. Dates for Testing
Test booklets and pre-printed scansheets will be delivered to schools no later than one week before the testing window begins. The booklets and scansheets will be sent separately. Directions for Administering the SDRT will be enclosed with the answer sheets. Schools are responsible for storing the booklets in a secured location both before and after the test is administered. Return of Test Materials Sort answer sheets by grade level and test booklets by color and form before returning. Separate unused answer sheets from the completed sheets. Also separate the answer sheets of any students who were tested with adaptations or accommodations based on their IEP (sorted by standard administration and accommodations). Completed answer sheets, unused answer sheets, and test booklets must be delivered (not sent through the mail) to the Standards and Assessment Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Annex 3 no later than 4 p.m. on the assigned due date. Please direct questions to the Standards and Assessment Office at (619)
