Brief Explanation: |
|||
| By Monday,
November 13, 2000, students who responded to the interest survey regarding the 2001
Study/Home Stay program in France, March 30 to April 14, 2001, will receive a packet of
application materials. Additional application
packets will also be sent to teachers of French, levels 5-6 and above, for further
promotion in their classes. To assist principals in distributing
and then processing applications, the following procedures are suggested: Distribution of Application PacketsApplication packets will be sent to teachers of
French, levels 5-6 and above, for distribution to students who returned a French Study/
Home Stay interest survey in October. Additional
packets will be sent to French teachers for promotion in their classes. Application packets sent to teachers of French 5-6
and above should be distributed to students as
soon as possible. It is requested that
teachers instruct students to take the packets home and discuss the program with their
parents. Processing ApplicationsApplications should be returned to the principal's
office as soon as possible and no later than Friday, December 1, 2000. At the time of return, the secretary should verify
that:
If all three items are in order, the APPLICATION
SHOULD BE TIME/DATED and initialed; the check should be stapled to the front of the
application; and the Approval to Participate should be expeditiously circulated to the
appropriate teachers and counselor before being submitted to the principal. (Applicants
may not circulate their own approval forms.) Since
the program will take place during the school year it is imperative that students have a
record of strong academic performance. The
principal, through personal assessment and information provided by teachers and
counselors, will give or deny final approval. PRINCIPAL'S
APPROVAL IS A KEY FACTOR IN CENTRAL OFFICE DETERMINATION OF ACCEPTANCE. Students who are NOT APPROVED for participation at the school sites should be informed immediately and their deposit checks returned.
Completed applications with attached
checks and Approvals to Participate for all approved students should be sent by school
mail to Alan Svidal, World Language Program Specialist, Education Center Room, 2009. (If there are any questions, please call the World
Language Office, 619-725-7283). Final
deadline for applications and approval forms to be received in the World Language Office
is Monday, December 4, 2000. |
