Department  and/or  Persons  Concerned:   Ten- and Eleven-Month Principals
  Due Date:   July 1, 2001
  Reference:   None
Action  Requested:   Take corrective action for payroll deductions, if necessary.

Brief Explanation:

As a result of the recent adoption of the new site administrator standardized salary schedule, all 10- and 11-month site principals will be assigned to a 219-day work year effective July 1, 2001, and will receive 12 equal monthly paychecks beginning with the July 31, 2001 pay warrant.

If you are not currently receiving 12 equal paychecks, please be advised of the following important information:

  1. Voluntary deductions for supplemental insurance coverages (for example, supplemental life insurance, accident and dismemberment insurance, etc.), medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSA’s), wage withholding orders specifically stipulated for 10-month deductions, and deductions for association memberships (AASD, ACSA, etc.) will continue to be taken on a tenthly basis, September through June. No deductions will be taken from July and August monthly pay warrants.

  2. All other categories of deductions will occur on a monthly basis, including July and August monthly pay warrants. These include credit union deductions, savings bond purchases, additional state and federal withholding, wage garnishments, child/spousal support payments, and tax-shelter contributions.

Please review your current deductions and contributions carefully and take any necessary corrective action accordingly. Most deductions, except for wage garnishments and orders, can be adjusted to suit your budget and financial planning simply by submitting the changes on the appropriate card to payroll by July 1, 2001, in order to be effective on the July 31, 2001, pay warrant. Child/spousal support wage assignment may be adjusted by submitting a modification order to Fiscal Control.

Important: If you are currently contributing the maximum annual amount permitted to a 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity plan in ten equal deductions, September through June, two additional deductions in the same amount will exceed the maximum allowable contribution. You must therefore take steps to re-calculate your monthly contribution and ensure that your total deduction does not exceed the maximum amount you are allowed to contribute based on your maximum allowance calculation for the calendar year (January –December 2001). Submit a new salary reduction agreement form to Fiscal Control no later than July 1 in order to be effective on the July 31, 2001 pay warrant. Please contact Fiscal Control at (619) 725-7670 to request the new form.
