Brief Explanation:

Planning, Development, Evaluation, and Reporting and its partner, San Diego Mediation and Restitution Services (MARS), will be presenting the first annual San Diego County Peer Mediation Competition and Conference on Saturday, June 9, 2001, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hoover High School. Co-host of the event is Memorial Academy. Schools that currently have a peer mediation program in place are invited to send a team to participate in the mediation competition. All other schools in the district may send staff and students interested in the mediation process. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

You are invited to select one team of four students to participate in the mediation competition. You or your designee should accompany the students. All participants will be treated to a continental breakfast and lunch. Winners of the mediation competition will be presented with awards during lunch.

The deadline for registration is May 25, 2001 (Attachment I). Schools participating in the competition will receive a packet outlining the guidelines for this event. The earlier you submit your entry, the more time your students will have to prepare.

Calendar this date! This event includes schools from throughout the county, and we look forward to having San Diego City Schools well-represented. Additional information will be sent closer to the event date. If you have any questions, please call Judy Allison at (858) 490-8673.
