Brief Explanation:

 The Eighth Annual ASPIRA AL FUTURO Conference for middle grade Latina students, their mothers, and staff will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Sea World.

The event promotes academic excellence among Latina students via their exposure to workshops on building self-esteem, skill building, career information, and Latina role models.

Each principal is encouraged to do the following:

  • Assume the leadership for attendance of Latina students and their mothers.
  • Identify and register a school representative group of 20, consisting of Latina students, mothers, and interested staff members/volunteers.

The conference is limited to 500. Schools will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants. ONLY schools that have submitted a completed registration package (attached) will be considered.

Transportation from selected sites will be provided at no cost to participating schools. The deadline for registration is Friday, April 6, 2001, at 2 p.m. Registrations should be faxed to the Student Advocacy Program at (858) 490-8850 followed by mailing to Pacific Beach Center.
