Brief Explanation:

  In accordance with Collective Negotiations Contract, a list of expected position vacancies will be sent to each school or department for posting. Also included will be the bid scan sheets to be used for bidding.

ELIGIBILITY

Bids from permanent, probationary, and Regional Occupational Program restricted contracted staff of the San Diego Unified School District who meet the stated position qualifications will be given first opportunity for transfer. Leave replacement and visiting teachers (except State Teachers Retirement System or Public Employees Retirement System retirees) may also bid (Article 33, Section 33.6). Staff members are encouraged to submit bids as quickly as possible and have the sole responsibility to correctly complete the bid scan sheet to prevent computer-scanning rejection. CALENDAR CHANGES

All positions posted will commence on the start date for the 2001-2002 school year as determined by each school’s calendar. Human Resource Services Division (HRSD) will assist to provide opportunities to work a full contract work year for unit members returning from a leave or currently on a traditional schedule who transfer to a year-round schedule. Teachers transferring from a year-round to a traditional schedule will automatically change from year-round (12-month pay) to the traditional (10-month pay) schedule or may opt to stay on a year-round pay schedule for one year only. If this option is exercised, the following year will revert to the traditional (10-month pay) schedule.CLASS SIZE REDUCTION (GRADES K-3)
All teachers newly assigned to any grade(s) K-3 are required to receive training prior to starting the assignment. Training will be provided by the district on dates yet to be determined. Contact the Teaching and Learning Office at (858) 496-1861 for confirmation.

POST PROCEDURES

Before you submit a bid scan sheet, review the following explanations of the provisions of the transfer procedure. Your bid can be accepted only if all requirements for submitting a bid are met.
 
1. Must meet the minimum qualifications of credential(s) and status. Other special assignment responsibilities may be stated on the position vacancy list. The required credential must be registered with HRSD before the close of the posted period.

2. For secondary positions posted with majors and minors, HRSD will certify that bidders have the required major or minor or have completed 20 semester units for a minor and 30 semester units for a major, based on transcripts on file with the district at the time of closing of the posting period. Teachers with an applicable minor may be considered for vacancies that receive less than five qualified bidders with the appropriate required major.

3. Qualifications of applicants will be determined by HRSD.

4. To bid for posted position vacancies, you must correctly complete and submit a bid scan sheet to the Eugene Brucker Education Center, HRSD, Room 1241, before the due date of March 1, 2001. Bids will not be accepted after this date.

5. Incorrect scan sheets cannot be read by the computer.

6. Position vacancies will specify grade or subject area as accurately as can be determined at the time of posting.
 
HOW TO BID

Please refer to the following:

1. Use appropriate Bid for Transfer To PositionVacancy scan sheet.
 
2. Use a number two pencil only.
 
3. Enter social security number and completely mark the corresponding numbered bubbles. Leave no blanks or hyphens between the numbers (e.g., 123456789).
 
4. Enter your name, present location and home phone number, including area code, in the space provided. Do not use nicknames.
 
5. Refer to the Post and Bid listing vacancies.
 
6. Completely mark the first numbered bubble by the corresponding vacancy number.
 
7. Only one scan sheet per person needs to be submitted; not more than five bids are encouraged.
 
ACCEPTANCE OF POSITION

A unit member who accepts a bid-upon position in this posting period will be ineligible to participate in post and bid until the March 2002 posting period.
