Brief Explanation: |
|||
|
An embargo has been issued by CDE relative to the purchase
of the Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition (SAT 9), Form S student
test booklets by districts in California. Use of Sat 9, Form S student
test booklets, even in controlled settings, may constitute inappropriate
test preparation based on new state guidelines. Therefore, we are
requesting that all such materials, along with the attached
Principal Certification Form, be returned to the Testing Unit
by October 27, 2000. Please note that you do not need to return the
SAT 9 Compendium of Instructional Objectives or the Guide for
Classroom Planning – only the SAT 9, Form S booklets.
The State Board of Education has indicated that calculation of the Academic Performance Index (API) for schools will, in the future, be based increasingly on the California Content Standards portion of the STAR program and decreasingly on the SAT 9. Later this fall, the state is expected to provide materials that will be appropriate to use in preparing students for the standards-based test. If you have any questions, please call Bob Raines at (619) 725-7058 or Karen Bachofer at (619) 725-7167. |
