Attachment 2 - Training Schedule and Reservation Form

The Accountability and Research Office has developed a Student Achievement Data System that enables site staff to view and sort student achievement data from standardized tests, district assessments, report card grades, and site-based alternative assessments. The system is designed to help school staffs use data more effectively for instructional and programmatic decision making. Attachment 1 illustrates some of the system capabilities.

The Student Achievement Data System is accessible via an IBM-compatible PC that is set-up to access SISCS (Student Information System Client/Server) over the district’s internal network. (Note to secondary schools: This system is not the same as AERIES. Some student assessment data are already available to you through AERIES and through existing data queries. For those who may be interested, this system provides additional mechanisms to view and sort student achievement data.)

Use of the system is voluntary. However, to ensure system security and appropriate use, attendance at a training session is required prior to accessing the data system. Ten training sessions have been scheduled for October – November 2000 (see Attachment 2). For new users, there are eight training sessions, most of which have been organized as "job-alike" sessions for site administrative and certificated staff, and for site technicians and data clerks. There are also two update sessions for those who attended training and used the system last spring.

Reservations are required due to training room capacity. Please complete the reservation form (Attachment 2) and return it by October 2, 2000 to Dolores Womack, Accountability and Research Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 3110. You will receive a confirmation prior to the training session.

Questions about the training sessions or about computer system configurations should be directed to Karin Alvarado, Microcomputer Applications Training Specialist, 619-725-7197. General questions may be directed to Sally Bennett at 619-725-7190.
