Brief Explanation:
One of the responsibilities of the School Police Communications Center
is to monitor the District alarm system. The alarm system monitors both
fire and intrusion alarms and is our first line of defense for the
protection of school property. We are updating our list of currently authorized personnel who have
after-hour and weekend access. As always, we require that all staff
members who enter a school site after hours must call the School Police
Department. The current password system utilizing a school-generated pass
number is being phased out and will no longer be accepted after October
15, 2000. Our new system will use a 7-digit pass code, which will consist
of the 3-digit location code number followed by the approved personnel's
last 4 digits of their social security number. Our new system will provide
the ability to track all entry/exit activity within the district and run
historical reports that can search site specific or personnel specific
activity. Attached is an Excel spreadsheet form for you to list designated staff
members who are allowed on your site after hours and on weekends. We
request you return this completed form to us no later than Friday,
September 29, 2000, either by e-mail, fax (619-295-5074) or district mail.
New Protected Premises Pass cards will be issued prior to October
15, 2000, and sent to your site. Our statistics have shown that
administrators who limit the number of people who have access to a
facility after hours, generally have greater overall security. Our School Police Communication personnel remain committed to the
protection of students, staff and property. The Communications Center is
staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may be reached at (619) 291-7678
or, in case of an emergency, (619) 291-9911. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Shannon at (619)
725-7021. |
