Brief Explanation: |

|
Attached you will find the third wait list of
applicants for Magnet, VEEP, and/or Choice [copy has been sent to
individual sites]. This list includes names of students that have applied
between May 19 and July 7, 2000. Applications received during this
timeframe have been added to the lists in date/time order with
out-of-district students dropping to the bottom of the list. Schools are
reminded that all names ahead of new applicants must be offered enrollment
before new applicants can be enrolled. Schools are to accept students in
the order of the lists. Schools may not pick and choose from their lists
and schools are not to enroll nonresident students outside this process.
The use of the SIP process to circumvent or give preference to certain
students is allowed. Enrollment of nonresident students who have not
applied through Choice, Magnet, or VEEP (and coding them Choice, Magnet,
or VEEP) is a violation of the State Education Code and district policy.
It is important that all schools maintain accurate student address information in the district client server system. The Enrollment Options Office uses the student address in the client server as the student's valid address. This information is not always current and it is important that schools enrolling nonresident students verify the student address. VEEP students must reside in the site's VEEP pattern. Magnet students are not to be offered enrollment if the district address is inaccurate and the student's actual address places the student in a lower priority than you are enrolling. Please document the result of your contacts in the disposition column. You will be asked to return a list with this documentation in the fall. A 4th wait list will be sent to each site the last week in August with names of students who have submitted applications between July 7 and August 15, 2000. Applications coming into schools or the Enrollment Options Office between August 15 and September 1, 2000, (the last working day before school starts) may be enrolled if all other names on your list have been accommodated. Please fax these applications to the Enrollment Options Office at (619) 692-0269 and they will be added to your list. IMPORTANT: A transportation application form must be completed and sent to the Transportation Department for each enrolled Magnet and VEEP student (Choice does not provide transportation). Packets of these forms were sent to each site in April. If you need additional forms, please call the Enrollment Options Office at (619) 725-5672. |
