Every Day
Counts:
When it comes to school, students who miss school….miss out. They
miss out on opportunities to learn, build lasting friendships, and develop the
skills and attitudes needed to become good citizens and valued employees. There
is a very strong connection between student attendance and student performance
in school. Our research shows... to see more please click on the following link,

Developing
a Masterful Writing Style
As a
young writer, there are certain writing obstacles that you must overcome in
order to grow intellectually. The English Department has put together a
booklet that highlights those essential areas of English that all students
need to know. If you are interested in becoming a dazzling, dynamic writer,
please click on the following link (A PDF

Being a Good
Neighbor:
Our neighbors in the business parks surrounding the school
have asked for the cooperation of our students and parents in following traffic
and parking regulations on the community streets. Please do not double park or
jaywalk. It has become difficult for individuals working in the business
parks to get to and from work because of the congestion around Scripps Ranch
Blvd., Scripps Lake Blvd. Treena and Meanley. Obviously, the worst times are
just before the start of school and at dismissal. Please do not double
park to drop off students to walk to school. Also use crosswalks as you
approach school. With everyone’s cooperation the traffic situation surrounding
the school and the business will be much safer.

Live Homework Help:
SDUSD, the City of San Diego Public
Library and local businesses have partnered to make Live Homework
Help available to San Diego students and schools at no cost. Live
Homework Help, provided by Tutor.com, is a one-to-one online
tutoring service connecting kids from any Microsoft Windows based,
Internet-enabled computer to qualified tutors. Tutoring is available
(in English and Spanish) in math, science, social studies, and
English. Tutors do not provide answers to questions or problems but
guide the student to find the right answers. Students can only
access Live Homework Help with a City of San Diego library or
library access card. District schools have been sent a sample letter
(English
|
Spanish ) explaining this new program along with an access card
application form (English
|
Spanish ). The documents should be distributed to students, in
school newsletters or other forms of parent communication. (Spanish

Work Permits:
IMPORTANT
All work permits expired the first day of school, September 4, 2007. If you
are still working the same job or if you are starting a new job, you MUST
obtain a new application for a Work Permit. Applications are available in
the Career Center. Also, don't forget to check out the
Job Board in the Career Center if you're looking for a job.
Zero Tolerance:
The San
Diego Unified School District is making an effort to reaffirm its stance on
replica guns. Possession of a replica gun such as a pellet, airsoft,
paintball or BB gun is a violation of the district’s Zero Tolerance policy.
These items are not allowed on our campus. Students in possession of these
weapons will be automatically suspended for five days and recommended for
expulsion under the Zero Tolerance Policy. There is a very real risk of
someone being injured by one of these guns being fired intentionally or
accidentally. However, there is also the danger of a police officer reacting
to seeing an individual with the toy gun and reacting to someone they
believe to be armed and a danger to others. Do not bring replica weapons to
school. You risk too much by violating this district rule.
Automobile Parking (students):
Parking Application a PDF Document

Dress Code:
Students are
expected to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for school. Students wearing clothing deemed inappropriate will be referred to the Vice Principal, Dean of Students, and/or Counselor. Parents are encouraged to monitor their students for appropriate clothing as they leave for school each day.
Counseling Appointments:
Students must fill out the "Request to See Counselor" forms which are available in the Counseling Center Office. Counselors will then send for students during the least disruptive portion of their schedules unless it is an emergency. Parent are encouraged to call or email the counselors.
Physical Education Uniforms:
All physical education students will be required to wear uniforms. The uniform will be shorts and a t-shirt with the SRHS label on both. In addition, locks are required; locks sell for $5.00. Uniforms and locks may be purchased in the Financial Office before school begins; including new student orientation, and throughout the year. Present your receipt to the locker room attendant to receive the PE uniform. The cost of the complete uniform is $20.00; shirt and shorts sell for $10.00 separately. Optional sweat pants are available for $15.00. Checks for physical education uniforms should be made out to "Scripps Ranch High School" for the exact amount only. (Sweat tops and pants for cool weather
are optional. Sweats may be all navy, all cardinal, or all white with no pockets).
Students will be required to report to roll call in their uniforms (shorts and t-shirts). They may wear sweats over their uniforms after roll call. Uniforms have been approved by the physical education staff, administration, and the Foundation Board.
