Parent Resources
Parent
Connection: (Grades On-Line)
Collaboration and communication between parents and staff is a priority at
the Scripps Ranch High School. In an effort to build on this belief,
and to ensure academic success for all students, we are implementing
ParentConnection. ParentConnection is a web-based application that
provides parents secured access to a wide array of their children's school
data, such as district, school, and classroom news; student demographics;
student schedules; attendance activity; class assignments; report cards &
progress reports; and e-mail links to teachers, counselors, and school
administration. In order to use Parent Connect you must have an account
created for you. parent Connections Log-On Home Page

Please Note: The attendance code "D"
means that the student was at school, but not in class. "Detained" is used
for various reasons, including office visits, testing, special activities
participation, etc. Before phoning the school, please check with your
student as to the reason for the "detained" designation.
Extended
Day Classes: Will begin on February 25 and will conclude on April 10,
2008. Classes will meet Monday - Thursday from 2:30 - 5 PM. No class on Fridays.
The purpose of this program is to give the students an opportunity to a pass a
course in which they received an "F" , or to meet college entrance requirements
if the received a "D" grade in a college entrance required class. Late buses
will be available for students who currently ride the bus to school. This is a
first-come, first-served basis. We will offer a Chemistry, Physics, and English.
If any or all the classes do not fill up Scripps Ranch HS will be unable to
offer it. If your student fits the criteria ask him/her to bring home the
required application. Applications are available from their counselors. If you
have any questions regarding these classes please call (858) 621-9020 x1125
Paloma West, Counselor.
Every Day
Counts:
When it comes to school, students who miss school….miss out. They
miss out on opportunities to learn, build lasting friendships, and develop the
skills and attitudes needed to become good citizens and valued employees. There
is a very strong connection between student attendance and student performance
in school. Our research shows... to see more please click on the following link,

Zero Tolerance:
The San
Diego Unified School District is making an effort to reaffirm its stance on
replica guns. Possession of a replica gun such as a pellet, airsoft,
paintball or BB gun is a violation of the district’s Zero Tolerance policy.
These items are not allowed on our campus. Students in possession of these
weapons will be automatically suspended for five days and recommended for
expulsion under the Zero Tolerance Policy. There is a very real risk of
someone being injured by one of these guns being fired intentionally or
accidentally. However, there is also the danger of a police officer reacting
to seeing an individual with the toy gun and reacting to someone they
believe to be armed and a danger to others. Do not bring replica weapons to
school. You risk too much by violating this district rule.
A Plea for
Driving Safety:
The
drop-off area in the area of Scripps Ranch Blvd and Meanley Street is
extremely hazardous. I have received reports from community members that
students are dropped off from cars in the southbound turn lane onto Meanly
and in the middle of the Scripps Ranch Blvd even though the light is green. I have received complaints from individuals in the business park on Meanley
that cars park illegally both before and after school as parents drop off
students or pick them up.
Our official drop off area is on the southern side of Scripps Lake Drive
just east of Treena St. Parents should not drive up Treena onto the campus
because of the flow of student drivers and school buses into the parking lot
and pedestrians walking onto campus. Perhaps parents of younger students are
used to dropping their students immediately in front of school, however most
high school students can walk the block up to the campus from the drop off
point on Treena. If there is a medical issue that prevents your student from
walking up the hill, please notify our school nurse with a doctor’s note and
other arrangements will be made.
Traffic around the school from 7:15 until 7:30 or 2:17 until 2:35 can be
congested. If you must travel near the campus at those times, please drive
with awareness and caution. When dropping off students, please do so only in
designated areas. A student exiting a car from any traffic lane is extremely
dangerous. Making u-turns in the middle of streets invites disaster. No one
wants an injury to a student or to anyone to be the impetus for community
awareness of what should be common sense about driving.
I have asked Officer Hebdon, our school police officer, to observe traffic
in our school area on a regular basis. As a school police officer he does
have the authority to ticket those who violate the law. Please drive
carefully around our school.
