screenings. Call 858 621-9020 x1122 to schedule an appointment.
Previous sport experience may help, but is not mandatory for selection to the
program. We encourage all students who are interested in the sport to tryout for
the program. All individuals trying out for team are eligible to play on the
varsity team. The J.V. team is a building program for the varsity, so positions
are filled by underclassmen. The coaches will assess players, taking into
consideration different criteria; skill level, motivation, attitude, potential,
and grade level. The goal of the coaching staff is to place athletes in the best
situation for the success of the team and for the student’s individual
development.
The coaching staff hopes you are getting excited for the upcoming sport season
to begin, and in doing so, you are beginning to get yourself into good physical
condition. The more physically fit you are when tryouts begins; the easier it
will be for you to comprehend and perform the skills being taught and the drills
being done. It also helps eliminate the potential for an injury. Any
conditioning should be done under the supervision of your parents and/or trainer
and should not be attempted until your physician has cleared you! Whatever you
do will put you one-step ahead of the rest and benefit your potential for
tryouts.
