A Message
From Donna Campbell: (July 2, 2008)
It is not
easy to leave a job you love. However for me, the challenge of a new,
yet-to-be-defined position has great appeal. It is certainly with mixed
emotions that I leave Scripps Ranch High School to take the position of
School Improvement Officer in the district’s high school office.
I have had the envious assignment of being principal at Scripps Ranch High
for three years. It has been a privilege to work with amazing students,
outstanding staff, and a community that supports and takes such pride in its
schools. The job certainly has its virtues and its challenges. My successor,
Kurt Madden, is an experienced administrator who is eager to take on those
challenges. I am confident that he will lead Scripps Ranch High well and the
school will continue to be an exceptional place.
My sincerest thanks go to the teachers and support staff with whom I have
worked. Schools do not run on an automatic pilot. People make the difference
at a school. This school’s success is the result of the high quality work
performed by our staff. I thank them for their efforts for our students. I
also thank them for their support. Even when we differed in viewpoints, the
interests of our students was the deciding factor. That singular focus on
kids makes a difference.
This school exists because of our students. For me the students are a
constant source of amazement for their talents, creativity, and sensitivity.
I can not deny that there were occasions when they made me cringe but such
moments were easily overshadowed by their consistent ability to make me
proud of them. Whether it was presenting CIF patches on a field of play,
listening to a presentation in a class, attending a performance, observing
their work in the community, or holding a simple conversation in the quad, I
was energized by the enthusiasm, hope, and potential in our kids. Scripps
Ranch has the reputation of being a very good school. That reputation is the
result of the daily accomplishments of our students.
Those students reflect the communities from which they come. The parents of
our students, whether they live in Scripps Ranch or in other neighborhoods
in the city, have high expectations for their students and for their school.
Those expectations keep us focused on the goal to provide a positive and
challenging school experience for all of our students. I am grateful for the
consistent and generous support of parents and the community.
Scripps Ranch High has been very kind to me I wish only the best for
everyone who is a part of Scripps Ranch High School.

Foundation
Family Donation Drive: Thank you to all our families who supported the SRHS
Foundation’s 2007/2008 Family Donations Drive. $38,162.93 was raised this year
with approximately 12% of families participating. The money will go towards
updating technology at our school with the purchase of document cameras, LCD
projectors and laptops for the classroom. Unfortunately, we did not reach our
goal of $40,000, so we did not have a drawing for a Nintendo Wii Game Console.
Also, thanks to those families who participated in their employer’s gift
matching program. This year, we received corporate match donations from
Qualcomm, Pfizer, Northrop Grumman, Union Banc Insurance Service, Merrill
Marketing Communications, Sempra/SDG&E, Wachovia, Copley Foundation/ Union
Tribune and Merrill Lynch. Thank you again and we look forward to your continued
support! REMEMBER, ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO GIVE, USE THIS FORM

Principal's Message:
(July 2, 2008 @ 5:00 PM)
The journey has
begun. As of July 1st, I began serving as principal at Scripps Ranch High School
and the welcome from students, staff members, parents, and community members has
been tremendous.
I am grateful for the work of Donna Campbell and the entire certificated and
classified staff at Scripps Ranch High School. The awards and
accomplishments over the past several years gives us a good starting point as we
begin the 2008 – 2009 school year.
It is an honor to be selected for this position and one of my first objectives
is to build strong relationships with all stakeholder groups. As I begin
to spend more time on campus I have planned a few informal meetings so all
stakeholders can join together and work interdependently to further improve
Scripps Ranch High School for the upcoming school year.
Please accept my invitation and join me for one of my upcoming “Coffee with
Kurt” meetings which will be in the theatre on the following dates:
July 14th
@ 7:30 a.m.
August 25th @ 6:00 p.m.
If you would
like to contact me prior to these meetings or have further questions or
concerns, please contact me at (858) 621-9020, extension 1103 or via email
kmadden2@sandi.net.
Regards,
Kurt Madden, Principal
