Going Green Fair a Huge Success!

Whittier's Going Green Fair took place on May 18th.  The students enjoyed completing their projects.  The Going Green fair brought awareness on how we can all reduce, reuse, and recycle and be earth-friendly.  Students learned what can be recycled and what is trash, and many students took a field trip to the Miramar Landfill.  Students showed what they have learned about worm composting, had displays on solar energy and made s’mores in their solar ovens.   Delicious sun tea was available to sample.  Students learned how important the rain forest, and all trees, are to all living things.  Many students were involved in learning to grow their own food in school gardens.  The students gathered pledges to reduce our carbon footprint and made demonstrations of eco-friendly household cleaning products.  The high school girls had a “Green Glam” display of earth friendly fashions, earth beads, and recycled crafts.   Many students enjoyed the homemade lip gloss.  Students also had the option to test their recycling skills during the recycle race.   MIt was a great learning experience for all.
