Volunteer Screening Reminder

District budget cutbacks in 2011 resulted in the elimination of the Community Relations Department, which was responsible for the administration of the district's volunteer program. Since then, there has been no staffing available to provide volunteer coordinator training or to revise forms necessary for the volunteer program. However, district policy still requires all volunteers to be screened and, if required by procedures, to undergo a background check. School Police continues to provide background checks for Category C and D volunteers. Please review the Volunteer Screening Quick Facts, which will be helpful in determining how to classify volunteers and what requirements they must meet to participate in the program.

We know that staffing cutbacks at all levels make it difficult to keep up with compliance with volunteer requirements. However, for the safety of our students, it is critical that these requirements are met. School Police, and the Livescan Department in particular, are ready to assist you as much as possible if you have any questions or need clarification of the policies. For assistance, call (619) 725-7015 or (619) 725-7016, or email elhard@sandi.net .

Thank you for your hard work and efforts in helping to keep our students safe.
