JROTC Students Heading to National Leadership Conference
Seven district students in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps have been selected to attend the American Leaders Youth Summit in April. According to an event partner, the San Diego chapter of the Military Order of World Wars, each attendee ranks as one of the top two students in their junior class and displays strong academic, citizenship and leadership traits.
Students scheduled to attend are Jordan Robertson of Patrick Henry High School, Steven Fang of Kearny High School, Marielena Teng of Scripps Ranch High School, Arnelle Sambile and Zabrina Reyes of Mira Mesa High School, and Michelle Mayo and Audrey Pelonia of Morse HIgh School.
The national conference, hosted by the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, Pa., will challenge students to collaborate on various projects and express their views on the rights and responsibilities of American citizens. Participants will also tour museums and national momuments in D.C.
The Freedoms Foundation seeks to promote the principles of a free and democratic society by offering educational and awards programs to students, teachers and citizens.
