Clairemont High School's varsity softball team played its first home game on its new field last Thursday. The Chieftains marked the occasion with a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting that included Board Member Shelia Jackson, who represented Board President John Lee Evans; Principal Lenora Smith, the varsity softball team, coaches, parents, community members and district staff. The renovated/rebuilt softball facilities includes a new natural turf field, new accessible bleachers (seating for 200), new dugouts, a new scoreboard and scorekeeper’s booth, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) path of travel improvements. Thanks to Proposition S funding, the school now has new softball and baseball facilities, a new football stadium, and a new automotive technology facility for its College, Career and Technical Education program. All the facilities were built to provide more accessibility for students and adults. For more information, you may call the school at 858-273-0201 or the Prop. S Communications Office at 619-725-7252. You may also e-mail PropSinfo@sandi.net.
