The priority application period for the 2013-2014 school year was Nov 1, 2012 to Feb 15, 2013.
 
Applications will not be accepted after the February 15th deadline unless the family is new to the district or a current San Diego Unified student has a change of residence. Proof of new residence is required.

Neighborhood Schools & Enrollment Options

San Diego Unified is proud to offer a variety of enrollment choices. The priority application period for the 2013-2014 school year was from Nov 1, 2012 - Feb 15, 2013.

 
Letters have been sent to families if the school had capacity to select the student. If you receive a letter it is important to contact the school as soon as possible using the phone number provided in the letter.
 
It is not necessary to submit a school choice application for attendance at your neighborhood school (contact them directly about enrollment). So please visit schools of interest, including your neighborhood school.

  • Start with your Neighborhood School 
    Contact the school directly for a tour and enrollment information. No School Choice applications are necessary when planning to attend your neighborhood school. Find your neighborhood school now. 

  • Program Improvement School Choice (PISC)
    Available for San Diego Unified students attending a school that has not met one or more of its identified achievement targets for at least two years in a row. Read more.

  • Magnet Programs
    Provide in-depth, innovative, learning opportunities for students while meeting rigorous California state curriculum standards. Opportunities include Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Creative and Performing Arts, International Baccalaureate Studies, MicroSociety, Paideia and Language Immersion. Read more.

  • Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program (VEEP)
    VEEP allows students to attend other district schools. It is open to all students residing within a specific boundary of a school that has an approved VEEP pattern. Transportation is provided, but only within these VEEP patterns. Read more.

  • School Choice/Open Enrollment Act
    Offers opportunities to apply to any school in the district on an availability basis only. School Choice students do not receive district provided transportation. Read more.

  • Charter Schools
    Charters operate independently of the San Diego Unified. Please
    contact each school directly about enrollment. Read more.

 

Every school and program supports the district’s commitment to ensure our students’ future success in college and career. Enrollment in these programs are available to all district students, including English Learners, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) and Special Education students. Thousands of students take advantage of these programs and enrollment is limited by available space at each school. Submitting an online application is required during the open enrollment options application period which was from November 1, 2012 to February 15, 2013 for the 2013-14 school year begiinning in September 2013.
