Family Friendly Schools Certification Program

Schools are invited to participate in the district’s Family Friendly Schools Program. Working hand-in-hand with the “Year of the School Volunteer” efforts, Family Friendly Schools certification engages families, staff and the community in our children’s education.

Every time the front desk picks up the phone, or staff makes eye contact with a visitor on campus, we have an opportunity to recruit new families, engage veteran families and promote volunteerism.

Family Friendly logoA simplified certification process has been developed which celebrates family friendly practices your school has already established. To get started, each school submits a Family Friendly School Commitment Form. Principals and/or designated Family Friendly School team members attend just two workshops for the year. A separate workshop for front office staff provides your team with an opportunity to share best practices and work out solutions to challenges faced every day.

This website includes a complete handbook for 2009-10 certification, individual documents for your convenience, information on Super Service Commendation boxes, helpful resources and articles, a link to sign up for workshops, and information on supplemental training opportunities.

At the end of the year, Family Friendly Certified Schools will earn a Family Friendly School flag, district-wide recognition and additional support with school marketing efforts.

Expect positive feedback from families and the community with your renewed commitment to becoming a Family Friendly School.
