2012 Summer Commencement Information

Lincoln High School Theater
Plans are underway for the Summer Commencement Ceremony for graduating seniors who were unable to participate in the June 2012 event.

Venue
Summer Commencement will be held at the Lincoln High School Theater. Seating inside the Theater is limited to 600guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Balloons, food, and beverages are not permitted in the Theater. Once the Theater is at capacity, guests are invited to use overflow seating on the school’s Quadrangle.
Parking
Guests may park in the deck on the southern side of the Lincoln High School campus. To get to the parking deck, (1) take Imperial Avenue to Willie James Jones Jr. Avenue then (2) turn south on to Willie James Jones Jr. Avenue; (3)continue south to Franklin Avenue and (4) turn right. The parking deck is on the right.
Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns are required for participating in the Summer Commencement. Graduates who purchased caps and gowns to wear for the June 2012 Commencement should wear them to the Summer Commencement.
Processional
Graduates must gather at the Gymnasium at 1:30pm to review the Summer Commencement program, receive their robes (only if ordered), and line up by schools for the processional. The processional will begin at 2:30pm. Principals(or designees) will lead the students from their schools and will sit with them on the stage.
Rehearsal
Graduates will not participate in a rehearsal; instead they will review the program and line up in the Gymnasium on the day of the Summer Commencement.
Diplomas
Graduates will receive their diploma covers only during the Summer Commencement Ceremony. Graduates must go to their respective high schools to receive their high school diplomas.
Graduation Program
Graduates and guests will receive printed Summer Commencement Ceremony programs. The program will include: Pre-Ceremonial Music; Processional; The National Anthem; The Pledge of Allegiance; Welcome and Introductions; Commencement Address; Presentation of the Class; Acceptance of the Class; Presentation of Diplomas; Presentation of the Graduates; and Recessional. The program will not list the names of the graduates.
Photographs and Video
Guests are invited to capture this special day through photographs and videos. Please be mindful of the processional and respectful of the Theater.
