Welcome

Sandburg Flags Sandburg Elementary is a beautiful K-5, traditional-track school in the heart of Mira Mesa. We take pride in our diverse ethnic cultures, with approximately 30 languages other than English spoken in the homes of our 776 students. We honor our diversity by flying the flags of 31 nations in our center court.
 
Academic achievement at Sandburg is a priority. Our students consistently score above the 60th percentile in mathematics and literacy on the California Standards Test. We are also proud of our high attendance rates.
 
In addition, Sandburg students enjoy a strong arts curriculum, with specially trained art teachers in the classroom one hour each week. Students in grades 4 and 5 are invited to participate in an instrumental music program. All students participate in a character education program that encourages students to learn citizenship skills and to develop a positive self-esteem.

  • Kindergarten Registration
    Kindergarten registration for fall 2013 is now open. Office hours are from 7a.m. to 3p.m. Students must be 5 years old on or before October 1 to be eligible for enrollment.

    To register, please bring the following documents:     

    • Orignal Birth Certificate

    • Passport or Military ID

    • Two (2) Proof of Residency (i.e., deed to home, escrow papers, rent receipt/agreement, utility bills)

    • An Immunization Record, stamped and signed by a physician. Please refer to the immunization requirements listed on this flier.

  • Opportunities Provided by Our PTA and Foundation

    Our PTA and Foundation add opportunities for our Sandburg Tigers everyday with programs like Physical Education, Digital Literacy, and Field Trips. On Monday January 28, 2013, our fifth grade students had a field trip to Junior Achievement’s BizTown. Our Pawsitive News crew has made this experience the focus for their broadcast
