Free & Reduced Price Meal Programs

Lunch regularly costs $1.50 in elementary schools and $2.00 in secondary schools, but is free to qualifying students through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)-Link opens new window.. Through the Child Care Food Program, eligible children in district-operated child development centers also receive free meals.

A parent or guardian must complete a Free or Reduced-price Meal Program application, which are provided to students at the beginning of the year.

Meals must be purchased until the application is approved, which takes approximately 10 working days. Parents or guardians will be notified of eligibility by the district's Food Services Department or the school site office after the application is processed.

Families with foster children might also be eligible and should contact the child's school or Food Services at 858-627-7328 for more information.

Eligibility will be determined by Food Service central office or school administrators at each school site and may be verified at any time during the school year by the district's Food Services Department.

To find out if your income level qualifies for free or reduced price meals, or for more information, contact Food Services at (858) 627-7301 or visit the Food Services website.
