More about this wonderful program...

The California Young Reader Medal program is sponsored by the Pershing Library every year. Students read all three books nominated in a category. Everyone who has read all three books comes to a party in March to vote on their favorite. Voting takes place in Pershing's cafeteria, along with snacks and door prizes.

About The Pershing Library

  • It was built in 2003 and is a wonderful resource for our campus.

  • As of 2006, the library has approximately 19,000 books and 13,000 textbooks.

Checking Out Books

Students may check out three books at a time. We request that our students use their student ID cards when checking out books.  If you don’t have your ID with you or you have misplaced it, you may still borrow books but, in the future, please remember to bring your ID.

Searching for a Book?

You can access the Pershing library's catalog database online. This informational system provides you with the call number, availability status, and the due date if the item is currently checked out. For access to this awesome resource, click here.

If you are unsure of a book's title or want a recommendation for a new book to read, please see Mr. Fedder. Not only does our Pershing library staff absolutely love books, but they also have a wealth of knowledge and they welcome your questions.

Fines

·        Lost or Damaged Books – Please contact Mr. Fedder. You’ll need to pay for any damages or missing books but remember our library staff is very understanding. They will help you resolve this situation.

Book Requests

If you would like to check out a particular book but the library doesn’t have it, talk with Mr. Fedder. He uses student suggestions when adding to the fiction and reference collections.

Fundraising

The library's biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Scholastic Book Fair. It is held in September or October usually around the time of our Fall Open House. We offer a great selection of books and other items.
