Pershing's Academic Program Overview

The first day of school can be very stressful for children because of
the large amount of information given out.  Please share the following
information with your child.  It will help make the day easier.

We are open daily for students at 7:00 a.m. Please go directly to the lunch arbor before school. The regular school breakfast is available at 7:10 a.m. Classes start daily at 7:25 a.m.

On the first day, there will be staff in the lunch arbor and in front of the school. The staff will distribute flyers that will tell the students which classrooms to report to when the bell rings at 7:25 a.m. Students will receive their schedules in this class. Our teachers will also give a short lesson about reading the school map, "A" and "B" days, and passing periods.

At 7:45 a.m., a bell will ring and your child will go to his/her first class. For those who are new to Pershing, older students and staff will help you find your way to your classes. Families are welcome to stay with their children until 7:50 a.m. Students who are new to the school are usually comforted if their parents are able to stay with them through this part of their first school day at Pershing.

Lunchtime is from 10:36 to 11:06 a.m.  A school lunch costs $2.25. Those children who qualify for free or reduced lunch will still need to fill out paperwork, but they will receive their lunches until that paperwork is processed.  Parents may wish to pack a lunch for their children for the first few days as this may be easier for a new student than purchasing lunch.

Dismissal begins at 2:10 p.m.  Students must be in our PrimeTime Program or off-site by 2:25 p.m. If you are picking up your child, please plan ahead and make arrangements to pick up your child in a mutually agreed upon location.  We strongly suggest the lot on the west side of the school.  The front of the school is not a safe place due to the amount of traffic.  Students must use the crosswalk.

The PrimeTime Program will begin on the first day of school.  You may pick up a PrimeTime registration form in the school office. Only students registered in PrimeTime may attend this after school program.
