Pershing's
Counseling Department

 Counseling Department
Overview

The Counseling Office is located in the main office building. Counselors are available to help students with any problem which might arise. If you need to see your counselor for any reason, obtain a "Request to See Counselor" form from the counseling secretary. Your counselor will send a pass to one of your classes for you to come to the Counseling Office. Please see the counseling secretary, give her your pass, and be seated quietly until your counselor is available. If it is an emergency, please write so on the request.

News and Information

Elective Courses

Each spring, our counselors meet with 6th and 7th grade students in their elective classes to discuss the various elective courses that will be offered in the upcoming school year. During this meeting, students will receive their elective scheduling cards.  These cards need to be completed and returned as soon as possible to the student’s current elective or wheel teacher. If you have any questions, please contact the Counseling Department at (619) 465-3234.

5th Grade Students

Every year, Ms. Blodgett visits with 5th graders at our various elementary feeder schools. She shares a wide range of information with these students including details about our physical education curriculum, Wheel courses, and band. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Blodgett by email at ablodgett@sandi.net or call her at (619) 465-3234 ext. 2223.

  • California high school graduation requirements.
  • Scheduling/enrollment for Patrick Henry High School.
  • 8th grade Retention and Promotion Guidelines set forth by the San Diego Unified School District.

Student Meeting

During the second semester, Patrick Henry Counselors meet with our 8th grade students to talk with them about their high school classes. At this assembly, students receive the Henry course catalog, Inquire, and a scheduling card for the upcoming school year. Ms. Blodgett then conducts follow up meetings with all 8th graders during their English classes.  She answers questions and reviews how to complete the scheduling cards.
