are invited to the next Parent Voices for Education San Diego (PVSD) Parent
Forum, Wednesday February 7, 2007 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Harold J. Ballard
Parent Center. Dr. Carl Cohn,
Superintendent of San Diego Unified School District, will discuss the
restructuring of the District into 5 key Areas and how this new structure is
designed to support student success. The District’s Area Superintendents, Ms.
Carol Barry, Dr. Chelsea Smith, Dr. Rich Cansdale, Mr. Vince Matthews (Pershing’s
Area Superintendent) and Dr. Delfino Alemán, and the Assistant High School
Superintendent, Ms. Nellie Meyer, will also join us to participate in a
panel discussion during which they will address parents’ questions about the
most pressing issues we face in educating our children. If you plan to

During The Middle School Years

Do
you have any questions or concerns about successfully
guiding your child (and your family!) through adolescence? If so,
Pershing has a wonderful event planned just for you! Susie Koske, parent education expert, will be sharing her expertise and advice
with us on March 8, 2007. Her informative yet humorous lecture, Raising
Adolescents - Helpful Tips for Parents, will provide you with
practical ways to help your child through the adolescent years. The
8th Grade East Coast Trip Fundraising Committee will be making this
evening even more spectacular by providing dinner before the lecture.
Though the presentation is free, there will be a charge for the meal.
Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the lecture will follow at 6:30 p.m. This
is an evening you will not want to miss! Everyone is invited.

All Adults – Parents, Teachers, Staff, Grandparents, Neighbors,
Friends, and Community Members - Pershing’s Foundation is sponsoring a Community
Sock Hop
on February 24, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. You can dance to the tunes
played by our DJ, Mr. Mark Anderson, or you can enjoy the evening
by visiting with old and new friends. Enjoy games, prizes, snacks,
and much more! This is sure to be an awesome neighborhood party. Let’s
get the word out and show our community spirit! Proceeds will benefit
the Scholarship Fund.
