This is the final edition of the Pershing Happenings E- Newsletter for the 2006-2007 school year. A huge thank you to everyone in the Pershing community who helped create and sustain this e-newsletter!! You are the BEST!!

8th Grade News

Promotion Day 2007!

Congratulations to our awesome 8th grade class who will be celebrating their years of hard work and dedication at the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Tuesday, June 19, 2007. We are so proud of your many accomplishments. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and leadership have made this a very special year. Have a great time in high school!!!!!! Welcome home to all our 8th graders and their wonderful teacher chaperones who participated in the 2007 East Coast trip. Their seven days in New York City, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia were fun and exciting. A big highlight of their trip was seeing the Broadway production of “Wicked”.

8th Grade Families
Patrick Henry High School Information

Cross Country - For those interested in joining the cross country team in the fall, Patrick Henry High will be holding a parent/athlete meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Henry High cafeteria. Required forms will be handed out and expectations will be discussed.

2007-2008 9th Grade Registration

In July, Patrick Henry High will mail a packet of student information forms to your student's home address. These forms must be completed prior to registration and your student must bring the completed packet to his/her assigned registration day. On their registration day, students will receive their tentative schedules and textbooks. They will also purchase their PE clothes, identification cards, and yearbooks.

PHHS Registration Volunteers Needed - Parents, even incoming 9th grade parents, are needed on registration days. It is easy to help and no experience is necessary. The PHHS staff work in each designated area and will give you instructions before your shift begins. If you help, your child, on his/her registration day, arrives at 7:45 a.m. and will go through the process early. Pershing News and Announcements

Congratulations to Mrs. Miller, the Drama Department, 6 to 6, and our very talented cast of Pershing students who wowed us all with their production of Disney’s High School Musical!! It was definitely one of the greatest musicals ever seen on campus. The cast party will be on June 13, 2007 during lunch in Mrs. Miller's room.

The Pershing Band’s Annual Spring Concert will be held on June 12, 2007 in the school auditorium. It will be a very entertaining evening for everyone! Congrats to the band for their outstanding performances in the school spring musical! http://www.sandi.net/pershing/bandspringconcert.htm

Monday, June 18th and Tuesday, June 19th are minimum days! School will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on both days.

Please Return Your Textbooks and Library Books!

All students must return their textbooks this week. If you have any Pershing textbooks at home, please remind your children to bring them back to school on the following days:

8th Grade – Wednesday, June 13th

6th Grade – Thursday, June 14th

7th Grade – Friday, June 15th

Thank You!! The UCP donation drop box near the teachers' parking lot has been such a great success that the program will continue next year. This year, we received almost $400 from UCP due to the generous donations of gently used clothing from our Pershing families and our community. This money was used to purchase rockets for the 6th Grade Wheel classes. http://www.sandi.net/pershing/ucpdrop.htm

Several sixth grade students recently represented Pershing at the Fantasy Baseball Tournament in Marina Village. Congratulations to all who participated!

Speaking of Fantasy Baseball...Join us at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13th to see this year's fantastic 6th Grade Fantasy Baseball and Blast to the Past projects. Afterwards, at our Expressions Night festivities in the auditorium, Pershing's student authors will be celebrating the publication of our award-winning creative writing magazine called Expressions, 2007. We will also honor those students whose work will be published in the 2007 Prompt-of-the-Month booklet. http://www.sandi.net/pershing/expressions.htm

Donation Request – Ms. Brewer’s class has created a mini garden. They would love to have a patio set to add to this area. If you have one to donate, please contact Ms. Brewer at (619) 465-3234 or rbrewer@sandi.net.

Attention Incoming 6th Grade Families - Pershing's 6th Grade Orientation will be on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the auditorium. Details will be mailed during the summer.

Tuesday, September 4, 2007 is the first day of the 2007-2008 school year!
