Spring Concert

On May 23, 2007, Mrs. Sullivan hosted the last 5th grade tour of the school year. Incoming families were able to see first hand why we are all so proud of our campus. Thank you to everyone who has made the 2006-2007 tours such a huge success!

On Friday, May 18, 2007, the Pershing Auditorium was filled with enthusiastic cheers and applause as Pershing students were honored for their Academic Excellence (all A's), Perfect Attendance, and/or Excellence in Citizenship in the third reporting period. We are so proud of these students and their fine achievements. Congratulations! Thank you to our faculty and parents for supporting and encouraging all our students. A big thank you to our wonderful staff who decorated the auditorium for this festive occasion.

Volunteer Corner

WOW! This has been a busy year for Pershing’s parent volunteers. The Pershing Boosters' (the official name of our parent volunteer group) programs are growing and expanding.  We have been very fortunate to have so many parents and families work together to support the various activities and events on campus. Thank you for your dedication and hard work!

In spite of all the wonderful successes we have experienced this year, the Pershing Boosters have one area where we need to improve – we need to find a better way to process all the volunteer forms we receive at the beginning of the school year. In September, we were able to call quite a few of the families who completed volunteer forms but we were not able to communicate with everyone. Our goal for 2007–2008 is to contact all parents who complete a form.

For the past two months, we have focused on devising a plan to respond promptly to our parent volunteers. We are creating a computerized volunteer database, which will allow us to efficiently process these forms. We have also developed a new volunteer form for the 2007-2008 school year to support this new database.

In the next few weeks, a small but dedicated group of parents will be calling those 6th and 7th grade parents who completed a volunteer form in September to personally talk with them about their volunteering hopes for the upcoming school year. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Scott at pershingvolunteers@yahoo.com  We are very excited about this next step in our volunteer program!
