Spring Dinner Concert

Family, friends and Pershing staff gathered in the cafeteria for a dinner of pasta and salad prior to the concert in the auditorium. They were treated to performances by the jazz band and the rock band, two of Mr. Anderson's after school projects.  The jazz band performed "Ants in the Pants", "Burritos to Go" and "Loosen Up". It made the dinner so much more enjoyable.  The jazz band practices after school on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The rock bands took to the floor and performed such classics as "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi.  There were a mix of guitars, drums and keyboards and the sound was amazing.

Both groups put in long hours after school under the direction of Mr. Anderson and their hard work really paid off.  The Pershing Music Boosters raised money through this enjoyable fundraiser.

Pershing's Spring Concert

The Spring Concert featured all band students from one of the most comprehensive music programs in the San Diego Unified School District.  Unlike other schools, Pershing offers beginning band to all grade levels.  Each grade level performed several selections and the groups came together for ensemble performances.  The students played to a standing room only crowd in the auditorium.  The sound was incredible and the students' demonstrated a high level of skills mastery.  Mr. Anderson is truly unique in his ability to guide and nurture such a wide variety of music groups.

Congratulations to our entire Music program, Mr. Anderson, our talented student musicians, Pershing's administration, Pershing Music Boosters, parents, and parent volunteers, for such a successful year!

Thank you to Mrs. Masi for her wonderful reporting and her support of the Pershing website!
