Meeting Schedule & Information
Resources

Overview
The primary functions of the Parent Congress are to:

Inform parents about district reform efforts, student achievement, and other educational issues.
Improve student achievement by increasing parent understanding of district strategies.
Enable parents to ask questions, get answers, and give feedback to district leaders.

Principals - How to Recruit a Delegate
Principals are encouraged to select one Parent Delegate (and one Alternate) from their school to act as the school's representative at all four Parent Congress meetings. The parent must have a child currently attending the school that they represent. The Parent Delegate should be an active member of the school's School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) or the PTA, Foundation or another parent group.

Delegates - Your Responsibilities
Delegates work with the principal to establish school site meetings with parents and staff to ensure that all information is available to other parents, and that they have an opportunity to ask questions and give their feedback. The Delegate is responsible for distributing the Meeting Surveys to school parents, gathering their ideas for future topics and returning the Surveys to the Communications Department. These ideas are brought to the Agenda Planning Meetings, which are comprised of Delegates who help to select future topics.
