State funding reductions, which began in 2007, continue to cut San Diego Unified's budget and impact student learning.
Since 2007, California has seen historic reductions in school funding. For the San Diego Unified School District, this means a reduction of more than 25 percent in school funding while the enrollment has remained stable. That's a reduction approaching $500 million.

Budget planning begins following the release of the Governor's budget proposal in January, with completion required by the end of June.
