Principals and their school communities receive funds in the following four categories.

Base School Allocation

Allowed

  • Instructional materials

  • Professional development

  • Substitute teachers

  • Hourly time

  • Supplemental credentialed positions

  • Parent involvement

Not Allowed

  • Clerical and support staff

  • Copier contracts

  • Noon duty

  • Athletic equipment

  • Medical supplies

  • Campus security

  • Building improvements

  • Custodial supplies

  • All other campus staffing

  • Additional teachers — GATE-Seminar, VAPA, Resource, Magnet

  • Special programs — GATE-Seminar, VAPA, CAHSEE, AVID, School/Library Block Grant

  • Materials and supplies

  • Hourly supervision, extended day stipends

  • Smaller class sizes
