    Jewish Family Services is hosting a Positive Parenting Seminar series at their Kearny Mesa offices.
    Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them confidently manage their children’s behavior, prevent problems developing and build strong, healthy relationships.  
    When:  June 24, 2014 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
    Repeats:  Weekly on Tuesday for 3 occurrences

    The Seminars are provided free and are ideal for families with young children (ages 2 to 12), but can be helpful for any parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, foster parents or other caregivers who work with children.

    Summertime means school is out but healthy free lunches are still available for many of San Diego's kids.

    The Summer Lunch Program provides free lunches and snacks to all children, 18 years and younger, regardless of income, at school sites, Park and Recreation Centers, libraries, military sites and community centers within the San Diego Unified School District.

    “There’s no enrollment, no paperwork and no income qualifications,” said Gary Petill, Director of the District’s Food Services program.

  • Military Appreciation Event

    Please join us for San Diego Unified School District’s Military Appreciation Event
    on August 9th from 9am-2pm at Serra High School.

    The event will include a resource fair, games, activities, prizes and complimentary BBQ lunch. It will be open to all military families within San Diego Unified School District.

    New military families to San Diego Unified School District will have the opportunity to enroll their children in school. The enrollment portion of the Military Appreciation Event is for new students only. Students already enrolled in San Diego Unified School District that did not get their school choice or missed the deadline (February 15, 2014) will not be accommodated at this event, but are encouraged to attend the military appreciation festivities.

  • Serra High "The Holding Cell" Drama

    Drama led by ELEVATED youth from Serra High School

    This is a powerful and thought-provoking story of a teenage girl named Skylar who is arrested for drug possession. The play explores the slippery slope of high-risk behavior that catapults youth into tobacco, marijuana and other drug abuse and addiction and is a harrowing account of the dangers of prescription and illegal drug use.

  • Seeking Military Kids 9-17 Years Old

    Military OneSource is conducting a study evaluating the Department of Defense (DoD) website called http://militarykidsconnect.t2.health.mil/. The study is sponsored by CACI and Friends Research Institute, Inc. They are looking for military families (active duty, national guard, and reserve) with children ages 9-17 years old to volunteer to participate. Total time involved will be no more than 1.5 hours.

    Children will receive promotional items including a hoodie-type sweater, flash drive dog tags, ear buds and other items with Military Kids Connect (MKC) branding. They will also receive a signed certificate thanking them for their service to DoD and MKC.

  • Weekend Opportunity with Dads Corps

    Dads Corps will be offering an 8-hour Dad-to-Dad Workshop this Saturday May 3rd 8:30-4:30pm. This workshop includes a Certificate of Completion.

    These 8-hour workshops can help Dads not only strengthen their parenting/communication skills but these skills seem to enhance the credibility of the father with other community agencies such as Child Welfare Services, Family Court , Probation Officers and many more.

    The question is not “How do I get my children back?” Its more: “How do my children get ME back?”

    It’s FREE and there will be food and childcare provided.
