February Seniority/Status verification by Human Resources (HR)
February 28 Board of Education first reading of Resolution to Reduce or Eliminate Certificated  Particular Kinds of Services (PKS)
March 6 Board of Education approves Resolution to Reduce or Eliminate Certificated  Particular Kinds of Services
March 13 Notices of Non-reemployment to temporary contracted teachers mailed out. Temporary contracts (including leave replacements) end June 30, 2011

Rosters of impacted employees, acknowledgement of receipt forms and individual preliminary notices of Intent to Dismiss are available to site principals/managers
 
HR sends preliminary notices of Intent to Dismiss to impacted certificated employees via certified mail
March 14 Deadline for principals/managers to hand deliver preliminary notices of Intent to Dismiss to impacted certificated employees
March 22 Informational meetings for employees who receive preliminary notices of Intent to Dismiss. 4pm-5pm in the Ed Center Auditorium (4100 Normal St., 92103)
March 26 Deadline for certificated employees to submit the Request for Hearing form to Human Resources; Education Center, Rm. 1241
April 4 HR sends Hearing Notices and parking instructions via e-mail and  U.S. mail to those who requested a hearing (sent 10 calendar days prior to scheduled hearing date)
April 5  District serves “Accusation” to certificated teachers and informs them of hearing dates
April 6-15 Employee must request discovery
April 9 Deadline for certificated employees to submit Notice of Defense form to Human Resources, Education Center, Rm. 1241
April 18 – 20 Hearings take place at Kearny High School Auditorium (7651 Wellington St., 92111)
May 7 Deadline for Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) to send proposed decision to the district
May 8-15 HR mails copy of ALJ’s proposed decision to each employee who was a respondent at the hearing
Before May 15 Board meets to discuss action on the proposed ALJ decision and approve final layoffs
May 11 (tentative) Principals/Managers pick up Final Notices of Decision Not to Reemploy (prior to May 15) and any rescission letters from HR. 
 
HR sends Final Notice of Decision by certified mail to impacted employees
May 15 Last day to deliver final layoff notices
June (TBD) Meeting with principals to discuss Post-Layoff Rehiring and Staffing of Schools
June 30 Effective date of the Certificated Layoff
