David Lorden, Ed.D. |
Dr. Lorden has been an educator for 25 years, serving in both the elementary and secondary levels. At the site level, he has been a high school principal for nine years, a high school vice principal for five years, and a middle and high school teacher for seven years. He served as a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) chair for 10 years and an adjunct professor for aspiring administrators. Lorden joined San Diego Unified in 2008 as a middle school improvement officer. Most recently, he has served as the director for student support services and administrator professional development.
As a proponent for closing the racial achievement gap, Dr. Lorden has worked with site leaders to build their leadership capacity and has engaged in extensive equity training and professional workshops sharing what he has learned as a white man working in a culturally diverse community. He has been a change agent, moving schools and districts forward in their educational practices. As principal at San Ramon Valley High School, he facilitated the school’s WASC 6 Year Clear Accreditation as well as its designation as a National Blue Ribbon School (2001) and California Distinguished School (2000).
Dr. Lorden was the recipient of the 2008 ACSA Region VI,
Pupil Personnel Administrator of the Year as well as the San Leandro, Calif., Unified School District 2007-08
Administrator of the Year and 2007
Making a Difference Award. He completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University in 2010. His dissertation focused on providing professional development to principals to recognize and develop high efficacy in teachers in order to impact student achievement.
