Ms. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego and her Masters degree in Educational Psychology from Pepperdine University’s College of Education. Ms. Wilson obtained her California Administrative Services Credential from San Diego State University’s College of Education.

Currently, Ms. Wilson is attending the Doctorate of Education program at San Diego State University with a dissertation focus on university-based principal preparation programs to prepare principals for successful leadership in urban schools. 

In 2008, as principal a Principal at Oak Park Elementary school, Ms. Wilson received the prestigious award as Title I Achieving School by the State Department of California for Oak Park Elementary Music Conservatory Magnet School. During her tenure as principal, the Academic Performance Index (API) improved 150 points. Selected because of her exemplary teaching pedagogy and excellence in teaching, Ms. Wilson was awarded Coca-Cola Teacher of the Year, honored as Language Arts Teacher of the year by the San Diego Unified School District’s English Department, and was designated a Mentor Teacher.

Ms. Wilson’s work as an exemplary educator has garnered her special recognition and commendation from Jack O’Connell California State Superintendent, SDUSD Board trustee Shelia Jackson, and City of San Diego Council President Anthony Young. Additionally, Ms. Wilson has conducted workshops at conferences and has worked as an Ad hoc professor at Mesa College in the Early Childhood Education Department.

As a valued employee of San Diego Unified School District, Ms. Wilson has worked as a teacher, resource teacher, school administrator, School Improvement Officer, and Assistant Area Superintendent. In 2011, she was appointed Area Superintendent for Area 3 responsible for the development of the instructional leadership for principals, the development of clusters to strengthen the parent and community support with schools to positively impact the achievement of 20,000 students in Area 3.
