IB Overview With the authorization to open an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programmed in the 2006-07 school year, Mission Bay High School revamped its magnet focus to serve students interested in a rigorous academic program to prepare them for a variety of challenging post secondary school options. Situated directly along the edge of a saltwater estuary close to the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay, Mission Bay High School offers students a unique instructional setting in the ideal location to engage in coastal and environmental studies. The MBHS Global Studies and Technology Magnet offer’s students a rigorous selection of academic coursework, featuring the International Baccalaureate Programme for all students. With the 4x4 schedule, all students take four classes each quarter (two quarters in a term), for a total of sixteen semester courses each school year. This schedule allows students to choose from a rich assortment of electives to enhance the courses required for high school graduation and entrance to colleges and universities.
