The taxpayers of San Diego invested in our school, through school bonds, to build a brand-new Florence Griffith Joyner MicroSociety Magnet School in the historic City Heights neighborhood. We opened in 2007 with a campus full of special features: a fantastic library, sleek modern design that makes coming to school a pleasure, an exciting playground, enormous grass playing fields and classrooms full of the latest technology. We take our name from one of the greatest Olympians of modern history, acclaimed track star Florence Griffith Joyner.
