Welcome to Mark Twain High School
Mark Twain is an alternative/continuation high school that sits above Mission Valley, bordering the picturesque campus of University of San Diego.
Our program is designed to provide fresh paths for students toward academic success. The Main Twain campus is located on Linda Vista Road in San Diego. To offer more flexibility to our non-traditional students, we also operate two smaller neighborhood satellite programs. Our Morse satellite is located near I-5, I-8 with the Mesa complex operated on the Mira Mesa High School campus located on Mira Mesa Boulevard, close to Highway 163.
We provide small classes, college/career pathways, individualized programs, intensive guidance services, and an advisory program, each in a safe atmosphere that allows students to graduate with high school diplomas, or re-enter their local high school.
Our programs meet the personal needs of every student.
Nearly three-quarters of our students are enrolled in college courses as part of our joint diploma program with local community colleges. Intern programs are also available to qualifying students.
The Expectant Teen Program is a multi-level, multi-subject academic program. For students who are also parents, we offer the Cal-SAFE Infant/Toddler Center to care for their children while they focus on their own academic success.
Students can participate in a business-focused academic programs that train them in practical and necessary professional-level office skills. In addition, we offer independent study programs that allow completion of coursework at home, providing curriculum necessary to obtain a high school diploma.
Our campus and satellite programs enable students city-wide to take advantage of our services. Staff enjoy a collaborative-classroom atmosphere and opportunity to work with each student individually. Counselors work with small caseloads and are available when students need assistance. Twain is fortunate to have numerous community partners that provide academic tutoring, mentorship, community input, scholarships and financial assistance to our students.
