About CPJMACrown Point Junior Music Academy is a magnet school located in Pacific Beach. Students come from all over the county to attend our school because of its focus on strong academics through music education. Our junior music academy magnet opened its doors in 2008. Our school offers full-day Transitional Kindergarten as part of the magnet program. We currently have one TK class on campus forming the foundation of our school program. We can take our students from their ABCs all the way to pre-algegra. Our motto is, "Music opens minds." Following that focus we integrate our curriculum with music, for even math and science have musical connections. Music is also taught as its own discipline. One of our most popular programs is our Suzuki violin instruction, a proven method used worldwide based on the theory that younger children learn languages easily, including the language of music, which helps with their intellectual development as well as musical skill. Suzuki violin is available on an optional basis. Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that our instructional program is sufficiently rigorous to lead students to become independent readers, mathematicians and scientists for life. The inventor of the Suzuki method, Shin’ichi Suzuki, explained his philosophy: "I want to make good citizens. If a child hears fine music from the day of his birth and learns to play it himself, he develops sensitivity, discipline and endurance. He gets a beautiful heart." Our student's parents and guardians are an integral part of our educational program. We encourage them to have a voice in our decision-making process and to work with us as we strive to make Crown Point a world-class school. |
