Please see below for three significant changes to the Enrollment
Options application process for the 2009-2010 school year!

Applications are due between
November 1, 2008 – February 15, 2009

Oak Park is a traditional schedule, Sept-June, K-5 school with an emphasis on strong basic skills and music instruction.

Your child's road to success

By attending Oak Park, your child will develop the academic and musical skills needed to earn serious consideration for attending any performing arts school of their choice, such as the prestigious San Diego School for the Creative and Performing Arts.

Eligibility

Oak Park Music Conservatory is a magnet school. All nonresident students must apply. Please download and print out an Enrollment Option Application .

(Download)

Send your application directly to:

San Diego Unified School District
Office of Enrollment Options
4100 Normal Street, Annex 7B
San Diego, CA 921103

Or you may fax your application to (619) 692-0269.

All applications received by January 31 will be sorted by the high school magnet cluster in which a student resides and assigned a computer generated random number. Applications submitted after January 31 will be added to the lists by the date/time the applications received.

Siblings have priority in the magnet application process. Applications from siblings of concurrently enrolled students will be randomized and placed at the top of the lists if received during the priority application period, October 1 through January 31. Applications from siblings received after January 31 will be added to future lists by date and time received.

Oak Park accepts students in cluster order, 1, 2, 3

Please refer to the district webpage for current enrollment priorities.

Transportation

The district generally provides free transportation for students who attend magnet programs outside their neighborhood school boundary and having a walking distance exceeding two miles (Note: Secondary students must have a walking distance exceeding 2.5 miles). Transportation may not be provided to elementary/secondary students attending a magnet school within their resident middle school/high school feeder pattern. Transportation is available on the first day of school for students who have enrolled prior to July for the school year starting in September.

The Transportation Department works to assist schools in meeting their transportation needs. But the rule of eight applies to all magnet programs. This means that at least eight students from an area must be riding on that route. A new route is not developed to meet the needs of an individual child.

Three significant changes to the Enrollment Options application
process for 2009-2010 are outlined as follows
:

  • Parent/guardian completes the 2009-2010 application by prioritizing schools in a 1, 2,
3 order of preference. The Office of Enrollment Options will place students in order
at school sites on a space available basis. There will be only one offer of enrollment
per student based on the parent/guardian’s designated priority.
  • For all current SDUSD students, applications must be received in the office of
    Enrollment Options between November 1, 2008 – February 15, 2009 to be
    considered for placement in 2009-2010.
  • Applications received after February 15, 2009, will only be accepted for either
students “new” to the district (not enrolled) or for families who have a verified
change of residence address after this date. These applications will be prioritized by
date and time received and placement made on a space available basis.

The 2009-2010 Enrollment Options catalog includes an application; the catalog will be mailed to every family in the district in late November. The 2009-2010 application is available online at www.sandi.net > Enrollment Options. It may be filled out and submitted between November 1 –February 15 either electronically or downloaded and completed. The Office of Enrollment Options cannot accept any “doctored” applications from previous years.
