News Release:
Popular Enrollment Center Ends Summer Run
Beginning Monday, New Students Register at Schools
August 24, 2007
SAN DIEGO – With nearly 1,500 families served during a six-week run, San Diego Unified’s Summer Enrollment Center closes at
1 p.m. Saturday, August 25.
But fear not, new students to San Diego Unified. Your parents can still register you for classes… at your neighborhood
school. And you’ll be ready to start learning on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 4.
The enrollment center proved to be a popular option for parents new to the district, with more than 1,000 students enrolled.
It allowed one-stop shopping – everything from school nurses to talk about immunization, to food services staff, to
pre-school and school choice options. Parents could complete enrollment for all their children at the center,
rather than having to visit each school.
“We had many, many Navy families, new to San Diego, come to the center,” said Sandy Robles, Program Manager, Office of
Enrollment Options. “They might have children in elementary, middle and high schools. For them, it meant that they didn’t
have to drag the kids all over the neighborhood.”
Registration is needed only for students new to the district or those who have moved. To find out the location of
your school, call (619) 725-5668 or check online at www.sandi.net/schoolfinder.
