RE: OPEN FORUMS FOR PUBLIC TO HELP FIND NEXT SUPERINTENDENT
The San Diego community will have an unprecedented role in the search for the next superintendent to lead the San Diego Unified School District.
In an effort to receive information and opinions from a broad segment of the San Diego community, a series of open community forums are part of an ambitious community outreach effort. The school board will be holding a series of public forums to give community members the opportunity to help the district develop a profile of characteristics and attributes the next superintendent should possess. The community input will be fed into and assist the school board-appointed Citizens Committee to Profile the Next Century School Superintendent. Community members unable to be at the forums personally can also share their comments via e-mail or fax. "This will ensure that all segments of our community have an opportunity to participate in the input process and voice their opinions on what characteristics are important for the next superintendent to have." Richard Collato, chair of the Search Committee and Citizens Committee, said.
Community forum dates and times have been scheduled as follows:
- November 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Serra High School, 5156 Santo Rd.
- November 8, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Morse High School, 6905 Skyline Dr.
- November 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Education Center Auditorium, 4100 Normal St.
Faxes may be sent to Superintendent Search, 297-5624. E-mail may be addressed to suptsrch@mail.sandi.net. Letters may be sent to Superintendent Search, San Diego City Schools, 4100 Normal St., Room 2231, San Diego, CA 92103-2682.
