The Associated Student Body is a dedicated group of young adults looking to enrich the academic experience for those attending Mission Bay High. ASB is involved in developing campus leadership while increasing student morale. ASB oversees all student activities, such as clubs, dances, athletic teams, and community improvement programs. This year will see some big changes that include a renewed emphasis on student leadership, team-building, and collaboration. This is an exciting time as this year's team, led by President Haben Berhe under the guidance of Adviser Matt Moody, strives to create another fantastic experience at Mission Bay. Many other projects such as the school's Pasta for Pennies program, fundraising, service-oriented campaigns and class competitions are coordinated by the Vice President, Abigail Potvin, Treasurer, Victoria Cardin, and Secretary, Michelanie Butler. Last year, ASB put together a successful Homecoming Halftime, a fantastic Homecoming Dance, a meaningful Blood Drive, and even assembled a spirited Mission Bay High float for a return to the Pacific Beach Holiday Parade. This gave ASB an opportunity to showcase an improved MBHS Buccaneer mascot. This year (11/28/2012) we've already seen a wonderful Homecoming week with a televised pep rally, a great homecoming parade, and a memorable Candyland Homecoming dance. We've had a mock election, anti-bullying campaigns, and Freshman Olympics. Keep an eye on ASB. They're looking to make an impact on Mission Bay High and the community. |
