The following committees and organizations represent several important groups that make up the decision-making, fund raising, and community-support bodies at LJES. The rosters for this year’s boards are listed in the following sections. Volunteer
Volunteering at LJES is going high tech! If
you would like to help with a specific event, volunteer for a school committee
or simply let us know you're happy to help, please register with our new,
web-based volunteer program.

where it says, "Click here to register."
2. Enter your email address and a new
password. (Once registered, be sure to click on and fill out Step 2 -
Volunteer Interests - when entering your information. Also, if you'd like to

Parent Teacher Organization of LJESThe primary purpose of LJES PTO, Inc. is to support the education of children at La Jolla Elementary School by fostering relationships between the school, parents and teachers. To accomplish this goal, LJES PTO intends to:1. Support and promote programs that improve the educational opportunities for our students. 2. Increase parental involvement in our school to provide a strong social network. 3. Be a relevant resource for parents. 4. Provide events and activities to build a community with our families, teachers and administrators. 5. Supply a successful partnership between parents, teachers, administrators and the San Diego Unified School District. 6. Create an organization where people feel safe, supported, and where respect is evident. 7. Work cooperatively with the other parent groups at LJES. The PTO Executive Board meets monthly to organize and carry out the PTO objectives for the year. These meetings are open and you are welcome to join us as we discuss expenses, student programs and activities. Friends of La Jolla Elementary, Inc. Friends of La Jolla Elementary, Inc. (Friends) is the school’s foundation. It is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting the educational needs of the children of La Jolla Elementary School. The funds raised each year pay for instructional enrichment including a choral music program, art program, technology in the classrooms and instructional resources and materials. Also, funds are raised for campus improvements. Friends chooses projects to fund based on input from parents, the Governance Team/School Site Council, our principal, our teachers and the Friends’ Board. Governance TeamThe goal of the Governance Team is to assist the principal in providing the best possible educational opportunities for the students to achieve their highest potential. Only issues pertaining to teaching and learning are discussed in this forum.School Site Council (SSC)SSC makes budgetary decisions on specific funding areas within the school budget that are state funded.English Learner Advisory Council(ELAC) This is a site group comprised of parents and staff working to promote academic excellence for this group of learners. One of the representatives of this site group attends the District English Learner Advisory Council (DELAC) each month.
