Active Directory

The Active Directory project enables the district to provide an increased level of support and service to desktops and laptops that are on the district network. AD is used to authenticate into the network, as well as users, workstations eliminating the need for Novell. IT support personnel will now be able to assist users remotely, improving efficiency throughout the district. Workstations now employ a variety of security features previously not available.

Cognos

Cognos is a Business Intelligence tool used to mine data from the district's data warehouse. The district has designed and built a data warehouse to be used for district wide reporting. Currently loaded in to the warehouse are the following data: Student Demographics; CST Data; Grades; Absence; Master Schedule; Assessment; Discipline; Enrollment; Exceptional Student Programs; and Staff Data.

New schools

Five new school will be opening in September: Lincoln High School; Marshall Middle School; Joyner, Rodriguez and Burbank Elementary Schools. These new schools will have the latest technologies including Voice Over IP phones and a state of the art network..

VoIP Phone - Principals

In order to increase communication within our learning community, IT is implementing Cisco VoIP phones and cameras for all Principals and key executives at the Ed Center. Principals and key district staff can video-conference just by dialing their new Cisco VoIP phone. The implementation also includes

PeopleSoft Finance 8.9 Upgrade: Live and in Production!

PeopleSoft financials will be upgraded form the current version, 8.4 SP2, to version 8.9. The upgrade will impact all of the financial areas including: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Budget, Accounts Receivable, Travel and Expenses, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Receiving, and Asset Management.

Major Enhancements include: Much more functional Travel and Expenses; better asset management; the ability for departments and school sites to move money within the same fund and major accounts 4000, 5000, 6000; and a new feature, Direct Connect to 6 different vendors. Completed 10/15/07

Password Self-Service

IT is currently implementing a self-service password reset solution. To set-up the solution, users will be asked to answer a few questions that the system can use to uniquely identify them. Then users will be prompted to change their password. Going forward if a users forgets their password, they can go to the self-service password reset page, answer the questions as prompted and reset their own password without having to call the HelpDesk.
