Q. Are all sites using Active Directory (AD)?

A. No, only a few specific sites are currently using AD.

 

Q. Will all sites end up using AD?

A. Yes, all district sites will be migrated to AD.

 

Q. Why are we migrating to AD and what effect will this have on me?

Q. How can I tell if my site has been migrated to AD?

For sites that are using AD

 

Q. How do I know if my computer is on AD?

  1. If you are logging in to one of these screens,

 

using your employee id & password, your computer is on AD.

 

Q. Do all the employees at my site need to be added to AD?

A. No

 

Q. Which employees need to be added to AD?

A. Only employees who run the Zangle Desktop application and other district desktop applications.  This typically includes admin office employees and select others with the following types of functions.  (Principal, Vice Principal, Enrollment clerk, School clerk, Nurse, Librarian, some Special Ed, etc.)

 

Q. What about the other SDCS employees?

A. They can log in as they previously did and get to the internet for email (https://exchange.sandi.net/email), PeopleSoft (https://dwa.sandi.net), Encore (https://dwa.encore.sandi.net)  and Zangle(TeacherConnect) (https://dwa.sis.sandi.net/teacherconnect).

Q. Are all the workstations at my site added to AD?

A. No.  Only IBM workstations that require the Zangle Desktop or other administrative applications are being added to AD.  These are typically the Admin office computers, the nurse’s computer, some Special Ed, counseling and the librarian’s computer. 

 

Q. How do I add a new workstation into AD?

Q. What about other applications that are needed on the AD computers?

A. If a site has a valid license and the software, it may be re-installed using an administrative login.   If the program has been removed during a migration to AD, IT Staff will attempt to re-install the application with a standard configuration.

 

Q. How do I grant access to my sites file server share to a visiting employee?

Q. How do I get an IKON printer installed?

A. Contact IKON as you have in the past and they will assist you in completing the service request required to connect an IKON printer. 

 

Q. How do I get a non-IKON printer queue built in AD?

Q. How do I configure my workstation for printing?

A. Please refer to the AD User Experience document that was left at your site or view a copy from the following link.

 

Q. How do I grant printer access to an employee visiting my site?
