Superintendent Search Process
Overview
On September 19, 2007, Superintendent Carl Cohn submitted his
retirement resignation to the Board of Education, effective
December 31, 2007.
As a result, the Board of Education had begun the search process for a new superintendent, and retained the services
of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, Ltd.  , a search firm that specializes in assisting boards with the identification and selection of superintendents.
On January 19, 2008 the Board named Dr. Terry Grier the next Superintendent of Schools for the San Diego Unified School District.
Criteria for Selecting the Next Superintendent
As part of the selection process, a Leadership Profile
has been developed to identify the key qualities, skills, beliefs
and abilities to be demonstrated by the new superintendent. The input is a result of parents, staff and other constituents.
