Program Overview

The San Diego Unified School District's Teacher Intern Programs were established to support the development of teachers in areas of critical need. The credentialing programs provide training for those individuals seeking the following credentials: Multiple Subject Bilingual, Special Education, and Single Subject.

Intern candidates are assigned to classrooms in urban schools throughout the district. Prior to placement candidates complete preservice courses, including fieldwork, and are assigned a support provider who mentors, coaches, and models pedagogical instruction during the program. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates are recommended for a teaching credential granted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
